Someone from Michigan once told me that they have great beaches. At the time I thought no way could a lake beach be better than a real ocean beach. I saw photos and vids and I was so wrong.

The only down side is that it's too cold for smaller people to swim in comfortably. It can certainly be done; there's just some screaming involved in the beginning haha. But my lips start to turn blue if I stay in for more than 10-15 minutes.
I think the hottest the water got this past summer on the UP side of the lake was 64F (like 17 or 18C).
Edit: But the cold is also part of the reason why it's so beautiful and crystal clear. The climate is too cold for much farming, so there's not a ton of fertilizer runoff like we see with some of the other Great Lakes. Algae loves fertilizer.

Same can be said of the Pacific Ocean. The water in LA is cold as hell.

Which state/province's shoreline?
This looks like Upper Michigan or Wisconsin if I had to hazard a guess?

Gotta ask- is this a photo taken very recently- and we should be disturbed by lack of snow? or taken long enough ago that we wouldn't expect snow?

If it were taken in wintertime those trees would be bare.

Taken in August 2019, last time I was up that way the lake level was higher so there wasn't much beach
