Oh nice, my mom's hometown, always loved going there in the summertime, felt like the only place in Japan that didn't feel like a burning hellhole in July.

Can confirm: went camping in the hills near Hakuba this Summer. Was just nicely warm and not a burning hellhole at all.

Japan is hot? I always picture it like it has perpetual winter/spring for some reason

My wife's hometown is only about 20-30 min south of here - It is a beautiful area, and if we could find work we would settle down here; Housing is cheap! Also, they were basically able to avoid all the crazy terrible weather the last couple weeks.
