Fair warning the ground is currently insanely icy in curry village, so I would come prepared for that

yeah most of the valley is totally fine, but in Curry Village the ice has been really bad the last few days. Source being I live here

Why don't people hang out right on the edge of El cap or whatever that peak is, to get a more direct view of the waterfall?

I'd imagine you could do if you're experienced enough, but it's not necessarily something I'd recommend
