The breakthrough here is in the use of magnesium as an anode material.

Putative benefits are:

  • Comparative abundance of Mg (vs lithium)

  • A high theoretical capacity and negative electrochemical potential.

  • Inexpensive material.

I mean given that battery tech was left to wallow for like 40 years at least it's good we are getting more and more reseach
