Really no point to building manned planes anymore. Drones can pull more g’s in a dog fight and don’t have to sacrifice aerodynamics to haul a vulnerable meat bag around.

Are dog fights still a thing? I think latency would also be quite disadvantageous for remote control. I imagine when AI is developed for future gen fighters we will have something of a dogfight between other counter AI controlled aircraft, but possibly at smaller scale? Fun to think of.

Probably counting onAI to counteract latency

Latency won't be an issue with modern software. A human at a stick will confirm a target and authorize live fire, but the actual radar lock and fire can be controlled by a computer onboard. Same with bombing runs which will be even easier since most bomb worthy targets aren't very mobile.

Dog fights are not a thing anymore. Maned aircraft are still superior as they are not at risk of hacking or jamming unlike drones. Plus you don't have latency and you will have much more situational awareness being in the cockpit. The future of air combat is drones, but that's still a ways out. You will likely see things such as "loyal wingmen" long before there are completely unmanned righters

"Loyal wingmen" in close proximity to the manned controller should be less vulnerable to jamming, and could even use laser communications to maintain complete radio silence. The mixture of manned and unmanned aircraft is definitely the next step.

Drones are dangerous from the standpoint of jamming communications. And AI that anybody trusts to decide who to kill is still way off.
I don‘t see drones as a replacement for a fighter jet in closer range. But as mobile carrier for 100 miles range AA rockets? Sure, why not?

Dogfights and pulling Gs isn't relevant in modern combat. Dogfights are a thing of thr past and have been for decades. And Drones are simply not safe or secure enough at this point. What is being developed is drone wingmen, but we still need manned planes to control and support them.
