Certain traffic lights have a button to signal that you (the pedestrian) wants to cross. Those traffic lights are usually optimized for cars, as they know the no pedestrians will usually cross.

The blonde keeps pressing the button, repeatedly, which have no effect. When asked about it, she says its to call her friend (like a comms system in an apartment building).

The other person, which is also blonde, fails to realise the mix up (traffic lights vs apartment building) and instead says that the friend must be home, "because the lights are on" - which, in an apartment would suggest someone being home.

This helps. I pictured her standing there making buzzing sounds at the light.

It means we don't get the joke part. The boyfriend is supposed to be in the lantern (?!?), but the hilarity of the story appears lost in translation.

OKok so the blonde is „so blonde“ she mixes a house the friend lives in up with a random lantern on the street. So the blonde police officer asks what the hell she is doing like „buzzing the door“ but buzzing on the lantern pretend. then you think. Yes that is weird… BUT not so the officer he also mixes the house (the supposed friend lives in) up with the lantern and sees a light and thereqith mixes that up with like the light of a room ont he first floor for instance. So the friend must be home!

Did u understand it now?

maybe it’s just really only funny in German or idk xD

But if you do understand now: please help me fix the sentences so it makes sense that would be awesome.

We don't really say 'buzzing' like that in America. You might change it to 'knocking' or have her hitting a crosswalk button over and over again, never crossing.

Normally jokes where the punchline is 'she is so stupid' is the punchline are kinda looked down upon as sexist online. But the second joke, the lights are on, elevates it a little.

A blonde is on the subway car with her boob hanging out. Someone asked her if she knew she was in a state of undress. She looked down and said, 'oh no I lost my baby!'

Knocking is a very good idea! Also they are equally „stupid“ so no sexism here. Rather the joke is that you first think it’s sexist but then make A turn to it being NOT ;)

Oooh! In German grammar it’s automatically way clearer he is than in English!

Adding: I just read it again I think never wrote „he“ in German it’s a bit different words for a male and a female police officer. Should have written a he in…
