I've been throwing my application at anyone who would listen. I was using a generic cover letter that I would just tune to each job I was applying for. This was time consuming and slowed down my applications/ hour metric.

Enter chatGPT now I take the job listing requirements, prompt chat GPT to write me a cover letter, and bam. Perfect custom cover letter detailing why I'm a great fit for everywhere I'm applying for.

I went from getting nothing back, to interviews and offers in about 2 weeks.

The job market is competitive as heck for people like SWE or a bunch of tech fields. People need to stand out how ever they can.

And it goes without mentioning, don't just take this cover letter and paste it as is. Spend the time to read it, and reword things as you need. For instance I was applying for quality manager jobs, I would remove any mention of "engineering" from my cover letter as I'm not an engineer. Little things like that you may find.

You must have missed the part where I talk about leveraging technology to do tedious and meaningless work, allowing you to spend your time doing things you enjoy.

Edit: my response was to the original comment of "why use your brain".

Do you realize what's the point of that letters, right?

What are you gonna do when everybody has the same IA writing their letter so 90% of them are almost the same?

Then why your company ask for the letter?

Anyway the point of that kind of letters is to introduce yourself, what would you think about people who are too lazy to even introduce themselves by their own?

The point of the cover letter is to convince your potential employer that you're a great fit for the position. It's persuasive and informative and aligns the job requirements with your skill set.

A perfect situation to use AI to not waste my time doing something someone may not even read.
