The person I spoke to even admitted that people ask to "transfer" or "relocate" their service to a new address (but never explicitly say "cancel," "terminate," or "disconnect" their old address) so they continue paying for it unknowingly, and that this happens "all the time."

Our bill was higher at the new address, but I assumed that this was because we were making payments on a $1,200, brand-new, more advanced system with features that weren't available in our old system.

The tenants at our old house have never used the system we've been inadvertently paying for. I can't even see this old address on my account online anymore, but I've been paying for it.

Now we're fighting for a refund and it's not guaranteed that we're going to get it. I've already spent over an hour and 20 minutes on a call arguing over semantics.

TLDR; Definitely call ADT Security if you've ever transferred service to make sure you're not still paying for service at your old house.
