This is simplistic, but it's so easy and makes such a great change to the way I now use Elmer's glue that I had to share.
If you ever need to thin out white glue, or want to make it easier to see exactly where you're placing the items you're gluing, use an equal volume of isopropyl alcohol — the standard rubbing alcohol from the pharmacy — instead of water.
Note: Please use a disposable container and stirrer, as I can't guarantee this will come clean.
You'll need to stir for a while, and it will look like it's resisting your efforts before it all becomes clear. It will be much more viscous than typical thinned glue, more like mucilage, but the crystal clarity makes it really easy to see where you're placing things. It dries a bit faster, too.
I hope you find this useful, especially those of you who plan to make crafts with your children! I discovered this when making thinner glue to paint around areas to highlight with glitter with my grandchildren, and it was perfect. ♡ Granny
