LPT: if you are from a different continent and plan a vacation in Europe don’t focus on the countries but on the regions

Many European countries have many regions with huge differences in food, culture and people. If you come to Munich for example don’t google for „typical German things“ but „typical Bavarian things“. If you go to Strasbourg google for „Alsace“ not „France“. You’ll be surprised how much more authentic your stay will be

But some countries in Europe are so tiny that if you don't focus on them, you won't see them.

You miss the road exit, and there goes a whole country, need to drive two countries ahead for a return.

This really happened to my sister and brother in law, on the first time they drove into Germany (pre-gps nav). She kept looking for this city on the map to find out where they were, as they saw the sign on the road.
