Double plus upvote here. Mt watatic is a really great and scenic hike relatively close to lowell. Just head out 119. look for the rows of cars.

Pack Monadnock. Same range as Watatic. They form the WaPack trail. https://wapack.org/

Andre's Institute. Ski area turned into a sculpture park in Brookline NH (just west of Nashua). http://www.andresinstitute.org/

Dammit, I had work to do today and now I need to find out about these vanished ski runs. I lived on the opposite side of the hill from pheasant run in Leominster. We would walk to the top of the hill, cross of the woods and get the first run down for free then by our lift tickets going back up.

Wachusett might be a little over an hour and has tons of scenic trails and a top notch view from the top.

Two New Hampshire lists with a few good options:

52 With a View. A lot of these are way up, but there's a few within 90 minutes or so. https://newenglandwaterfalls.com/52withaview.php

Fire Towers. Wicked easy/older kid friendly (little ones might not be safe on the actual towers). I think it was the one in Derry you can skip, basically just someone's driveway and barely gets above current treeline. http://4000footers.com/list_towerquest.shtml

North Uncanoonuc just west of Manchester. South Unc is all radio towers. Only about a one mile hike though.
