Every so often I'm in the area on business and need somewhere to sit with my laptop for most of the day. It doesn't have to be a quiet place, but somewhere I won't need to worry about getting kicked out after a couple hours. Yeah, Starbucks is fine in a pinch but they're getting less and less comfortable/usable for the laptop crowd. I'm open to the surrounding cities as well (Chelmsford, Westford, etc.).

The Lowell library is gorgeous and huge! There's room to work there!

Chelmsford Library lets you reserve some study rooms for up to 2 hours. Can't book it back to back but they are also generally quiet and the librarians can find you a corner they won't mind you taking business calls from. IIRC they also don't mind you sitting in the room if it's not booked as long as you're mindful of someone else who might be standing outside waiting for it.

Since you have a car I’d add that Tewksbury’s library is right down Rt 38. I don’t use it for work but it is always really quiet on the second floor. I am not sure if they have rooms for calls or not.

I will occasionally do a full work day at Coffee and Cotton in Mill 5. There are always places to sit and it's a very chill and comfortable atmosphere with drinks and snacks. During the day Mill 5 is largely empty so I've taken calls by finding an empty corner somewhere on the 4th or 5th floor. They are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays though.
