How would you define consciousness then? Just self reflection?

I'm not a researcher in the space, just a big fan. That there are levels of consciousness is very well evidenced. Essentially each level is a layer of dynamic awareness. One of those layers is an awareness of self, and self in the world. People like to muddy the question with philosophy and spirituality.

I don't have strong opinions on it either. I am glad to leave it to philosophy, to deal with it. At some point I assume Nick Bostrom will make an opinion on it and Elon Musk won't quit tweeting about it. Oh well!!
