My current degree is in informatics (master)
well, the analysis here I can solve the problem by applying ML/DL algorithm (probably a preliminary experiment without using programming). What I mean by engineering is programming skills and coding the preliminary experiment using python and others. so sorry for the misunderstanding.

So you have a master in informatics but don't know how to program? And now you try to do a PhD in "AI" without using programming?
I have definitely seen my fair share of bad programmers in academia, even with a CS background, but still this seems like a recipe for disaster.

I know programming and how to do that, it is just I am slow in coding to translate my analysis to be a end-to-end model in programming. What I mean I wanna do the PhD more theoretical way instead of focused on building something by programming.

But if you studied informatics shouldnt you have some sort of coding experiece?

yes, it just I am a slow person regarding coding compared to my peers who can solve something quickly
