"As previously communicated, Verizon is actively decommissioning our 3G CDMA network. We expect this to be completed by no later than December 31, 2022. This decommissioning effort affects 3G (CDMA) devices, 4G Non-VoLTE devices, and network extenders." - Source

If you are trying to check/compare coverage, they resell AT&T service. Should be pretty decent coverage although no cell carrier is perfect. Ask your neighbors if they use AT&T and see what the service is like in your area.

I live on McGrath Pond and had no signal at all. Even though a Verizon tower is line of site, at the top of high street. Definitely test it out before committing.

I've had it for over 12 years in York County and never had a problem with reception, dropped calls, etc. Excellent phone customer service as they're oriented to older customers, so they'll take their time if you have to call them. I believe their cell service is basically AT&T so if ATT doesn't work in your area, Consumer Cellular won't either. It's easy to tweak your plan on their website whenever your usage patterns change. I tried a dedicated hotspot from them several years ago, didn't like it, and it was no problem whatsoever to return it.

Looks similar to every other phone plan. Take a look at Mint Mobile. I have great coverage even though I'm in a valley. With their recent deal, it worked out to $7.50 a month.

Consumer Cellular uses GSM towers, not CDMA like Verizon or US Cellular. Ask your neighbors what service they use and whether it’s good. If they tell you their AT&T or T-Mobile service is good, Consumer Cellular should give you good coverage.
When I moved to my current house, I had Verizon and line of sight to a tower, but it was GSM. I switched to AT&T and got good signal. I’m now a RedPocket customer (also GSM).
But I don’t get good signal the next county over as CDMA has the good coverage there.
