Word of mouth. Any companies with great benefits like medical and 401k hiring in the Portland area? Rather not deal with public in person or on phone directly as much as retail incurs. Someplace that will not put you in a cubicle would be great too. Are there any employers offering this around here?

The city itself has tons of vacancies of all levels and has great benefits especially health insurance. Jobs are posted on the city website.

Maine Health is hiring for many Inventory/Supply jobs. These are not public-facing and you definitively aren’t stuck in a cube - on your feet a lot! Not an easy job, but it’s not one that you have to take home with you either. They have good benefits and offer retirement match (to a point).

most of the organizations hiring will not be open to most people looking. it’s all about matching skills and experience to the work required. a list of companies hiring now isn’t what you need. you need a list of companies hiring people with your background and skill set. unfortunately you didn’t provide this so everyone is just guessing.

Are you capable of physical labor? Portsmouth Naval Shipyard has its apprentice program open. There are free van pools out of the Portland area, too. Jobs start at $20/hr but most get up to $30-ish after 4 years.

Wanting benefits, a cubicle, no people, and no physical work is a /r/choosingbeggars scenario.

The Post office is also hiring.
