The slippery slope fallacy is just that, a fallacy. Our cities and towns are communities of people but also communities of communities. Honoring our Jewish heritage, or celebrating our Christian churches, is good and right, and does not at all mean that our government is operated on religious principles. Besides, I feel like electing a religious fanatic to the governorship of Maine is a little far fetched. Even our right-wing demagogues are quite secular.
