It may be childish, but I was really disappointed to see the warm rain wash away our blanket of snow the day before Christmas Eve.

Its sooo depressing. The rain is killing me. Winters are long and wet now. My snowmobile may go unused all winter now

Wow your smart and can use the internet. Congrats. Winter starts in maine when it’s snowing and cold ya dufus. When its 10 degrees out its not fall anymore regardless of what day it is. Jeez.

Yea it's a little disappointing. I've lived in Florida the last 12 years or so and haven't seen snow on Christmas for so long, I was hoping to have some. Looks like there's still a bit left in my area but now it's mostly a sheet of ice and I can't get down the mountain. Stuck in house

Maine is becoming one of the absolute worst states to live in the winter. Cold and cloudy all the time. Very little daylight. Cold AF then rain rain rain rain sleet rain rain snow rain rain snow rain rain rain. No more ice skating on the lake, no more snowmobiling in central maine. Even up north the snowmobiling is going to suck this year. My pond has unfroze. Its never been all water this late in the year at any point in the last 30 years

I ice fish. I understand. Its not about being froze over. Its about ice depth and every year its less and less ice thickness. With this trend in 10 years there won’t be any ice fishing in maine with needing 4”-6” to go out safely. A body of water with little ice is just an unusable resource.

Welcome to climate change. Glad to hear you got your 30 years, my future children and their kids, if they’ll ever be able to have any, will have nothing, thanks again.

I saw a different map zing by on the news, and the entire country was blue, sub zero temps.

And then way down in Florida, a tiny blip of green that said 50

And then Maine, was also green, and also said 50.

I couldn’t help but laugh 😆

I was talking with a meteorologist relative today at the Christmas gathering and apparently the storms original track would have gotten us snow. It last minute changes to tracking inland which is why we got the better temps and rain.

This is Maine in a nutshell. Sometimes the Canadian cold gives us snow. Sometimes it gets pushed out and we get rain. It tends to follow the 95 corridor and that’s no accident. Our ancestors knew where to live.

Nah, the middle of the country is cold af right now. It’s actually as cold in Texas today as it is in Maine & you’d better believe Mainers are way more prepared to handle it.
