I sew expensive backpacks for fancy people and harnesses for dildos. Sorta nice tbh.

Reminds me of the janitor from Maine who was stealing Bean backpacks from lockers and returning them to the store for refunds. That’s a side hustle.

Ultralight packs?

I make ultra plush ultralight bags. There’s a custom fit, frame and padding, 45-60L, external pockets and I still come under 1.5lbs. I can make them down to about 3/4lb, but that’s not where I shine.

Do you sell your backpacks on Etsy or craft fairs or something?

Interested as well. I used to make heritage gear as well out of waxed canvas/oilcloth. Never found a sustainable place to sell

There are a bunch of consignment shops that will rent you a table and take a percentage. It’s not bad, but you need to price yourself correctly or you lose money quick. After that, I’ll hit the big festivals or just a roadside stand.

I sell the harnesses through Etsy. The bags and plate carriers are word of mouth through Twitter and insta. There’s a large market for the specialty bags.

Edit: I also make covers for equipment. Tractors, RVs, etc. Theres a solid market for it.
