I second this. I worked at Lowe’s and we routinely marked damaged and returned appliances. Call ahead and ask for the appliance department.
Brighton Ave Lowes usually has some big markdowns and the managers there have some flexibility on additional markdowns if you're compelling enough.
Avoid the Portland ReStore over by Handyman rental, they sell 10 or 12 yo used appliances there for 25% less than the big box store next to them. used wall sconces for $5 less than new with no warranty is no bargain either...
I agree about the ReStore. Over priced for older appliances, and they have a policy and will.nit negotiate the price. Granted, the money is going to a good cause, but if you're looking for the best deal, this isn't the place.

Definitely worth checking out. Got my first set of appliances there for a great deal (15ish years ago now but still) and the fridge had a minor dent on the side that was only noticeable if you went looking for it and you couldn't even find the issue on the stove.
that's my go to in Bangor.
Mardens.
Check out your closest Habitat ReStore.
This is a great suggestion - I got an essentially new LG washer from Bangor ReStore a few years back for a really fair price. Still using it.
My parents got a great deal on a scratch & dent stove at The Major’s Furniture Store in Farmingdale. It had a big scratch down the side that was hidden by the counter after installation.
This is a place in Lisbon that offers used
Facebook marketplace or Habitat Restore
I generally wouldn’t suggest a big box store but the Brunswick Lowe’s appliance department is staffed by really nice people and they actually pick up the phone if you call and dial the extension for that department. They seem to have the most scratch and dents because of their volume. Agren is also worth calling. I would avoid ReStore for appliances.
Dunnett's Appliances in Bangor has quite a selection of S&D choices.

I got my drier from Lowe's S&D section, $300 for a drier with a $900 MSRP that usually gets to $600 during sales. The only damage was a small dent in the front corner, which I put up against a wall anyway. FYI, bring a pickup because they don't deliver S&D and won't sell it unless you can take it immediately. MFG warranty is still valid, but starts from original sales date.
