Seems like a fair amount. Don't forget to lube the other pin as well 🙈

Ah the first timer’s premature lubing. I know it’s really exciting but you have to get her… its bottom housing off first.

Can't wait to get my new switches to lube. It's so satisfying. I love it.

Same thing happened to me. Lick it off and keep going /s

Remote_Cartoonist_27 t1_ixwlbxa wrote

A little soapy water will take it off, just make sure it’s completely dry before using/reapplying the lube

Toof-2-Tooth t1_ixwp4av wrote

Now you'll have to do that to all the others too. The difference in mass will change the acoustics on this one too much! I know, this is a whole new level of comedy.

This is a community built upon people spending hundreds of dollars on little square pieces of plastic, then waiting years for those little bits of plastic to materialize.

Do not underestimate our capacity for bad decisions.

JimNewfoundland t1_ixx16x2 wrote

That's the way to do it. It often feels and looks like it might just be too much. If it's still a bit tight, put even more on, and try again.

Isopropyl alcohol will dissolve 105

I often dilute lube with iso in order to bag lube with it, as the iso dries up and leaves lube

Also just a toothbrush and some soap will clean that off the pins too

Just the tip right, Just to see how it feels?

Was it worth it? :P

LoganJFisher t1_ixxqd7d wrote

I'm no lube expert, but that might be a bit too much, especially if that's a tactile or clicky switch.

Quite a few streamers are constantly begged to lick their boards. Sometimes they oblige. There is something weird about licking stuff in this community.

kest10 t1_ixxyoip wrote

Too much lube is bad. Apply just enough is good. Just a light coat and you should be good to go. You got this!

2

_GGfighter_ t1_ixxyteh wrote

stop cumming on your switches and use lube, it dries much slower

2

QWERKey-UK t1_ixy0bae wrote

Happens to us all at some point. Just use what's on that switch. Seriously, there's enough lube on that to almost do a whole keyboard. Just put the jar away and use what's on that switch :)

I just take as much off as possible with the brush and put it on the other switches, and when you have gotten as much off as possible, wipe it down.

2

KingsWill88 t1_ixyekbm wrote

You are not doing it right. I can still see the yellow top parts of the switch.

2

tastytwo t1_ixyf5re wrote

I think you'll run out of lube if you use that much on every switch.

1

XenophiliusRex t1_iy3m53q wrote

This shouldn't significantly affect the function of the switch once mostly cleaned off though. Also the worst case scenario is you have to chuck a switch worth at at most a a few ten cent coins instead of a motherboard and CPU potentially worth over $1,000.
