Recommend me one artist and I’ll do a sincere mini review. I’m bored.
I listened to Mykonos. This is something that I think I would actually listen to. It sounds very relaxing and it has like old time vibes idk. I like the choice of instruments too. Very good, I will keep listening!
Such a good first choice. Blue Ridge Mountains is another good one. Helplessness Blues. Montezuma.
Edit: correction
[deleted]
oh btw i listened to dust in a baggie.
not bad at all but i don’t really like country. i like how he plays the guitar tho it’s sounds so cool!
Passion Pit
I listened to Take a Walk, not bad, i actually would think it’s nice if i heard it on the radio for example but it doesn’t feel different, i feel like i’ve listened songs like this one very often. I’ve also listened to Sleepyhead bc I didn’t want to end the review like this haha. This one is not for me, definitely, but it’s different for sure. It’s trying to give me good vibes but I’m not really vibing. I would say it can be interesting for people who like electronic-alternative songs.
I feel the same. Thank you for the insightful review:)
the Melvins
i listened to revolve, and i like when the guitar does the melody in the beggining but i’m not so sure about the voice of the man haha. i’ve also listened yo june bug and this one is actually good. in general i see their songs sound like very dark and deep which is cool. i don’t know if i would listen more tho, because i tend to like softer rock (idk if this makes sense lol)
Both songs from the same album (Stoner Witch) from 1994. Theyve been around 30+years. they are very much "heavy on the heavy" and are known for their rhythmic complexity and unique song compositions. unique vocals. singer looks like sideshow bob, laughs like crusty. almost all of their songs are heavy, while only a few (they have a LOT of album) sound similar. some of their best live performances were the double drummer years.
Ten miles wide
I listened to the song you sent, Backburner, I think it’s very nice, I like a lot the voice of the singer and the guitar melodies! I will probably check this artist out later, good discovery!
The Beatles
About The Beatles, I like a lot of their songs yeah, and I’m sure most people know about them so I won’t be talking too much about them! :))
I'm feeling nostalgic. How about Robyn Hitchcock & the Egyptians?
I listened to Balloon Man, I think it's a nice song, I don't love it either but it's pretty fun
That's actually some later material. The earlier albums are more influenced by British psychedelic bands.
Legions by Stratovarius
Fartbarf
i will only listen one song of each artist (probably the top song on spotify) from now on bc there are so many comments lol. From Fartbarf I listened to Homeless in Heathrow. Haha honestly I’m confused right now, I don’t know if I love this or hate it, the synth or whatever it’s called it’s pretty interesting (sorry guys I don’t know specific music terms). I may try to find more songs of this artist. I think it has interesting sounds but I personally don’t love it.
Volbeat
I listened to Still Counting, I don’t like hard rock like this so I’m sad to say I don’t like it much. I’m more a person of softer rock :) i wouldn’t say it’s bad either, at all, but it’s not for me
Very understandable!
Adriana Calcanhotto
I listened to Sonho Meu. I have not listened to many portuguese music, so this was nice to hear. I think sounds very happy and cheerful!
3TƎETH.
I listened to Affluenza, i don’t like it at all sorry😅 it’s kind of strange because the voice of the singer is kind of low and the guitar sounds as loud as the voice? idk how to explain it. well, for me i just don’t like that the instrument kind of hides the voice and the loudness.
Dire Straits and Mark knopfler
I listened to a couple of songs of Dire Straits a while ago (the most popular one, Sultans of Swing and some more) so I can say I quite like them, they sound very fresh, it’s nice to hear, even though there are other songs like Walk of Life that I don’t like that much. I don’t know why but this one feels kinda dull in my opinion. About Mark Knopfler, I think it feels similar to Dire Straits, very fresh and calming. I listened to What it is. I like both of them but I don’t love them either.
Ling tosite sigure
I listened to abnormalize and I liked it a lot! Then I listened to Enigmatic Feeling and I didn’t like it as much. I’m confused. Maybe I don’t listen to this kind of rock often. Oh but I love japanese as a language, it sounds really good in songs. Mmm so idk I loved it first and didn’t in the end??
I'm glad you like one of their songs. I was not used to listening to this kind of rock (I didn't like the sound of electric guitar) or any rock, but it was this band that got me into rock.
Haha there are some of their songs that do not click with me, but since this band produces many songs, there are still other ones that sound absolutely awesome. You could try out TK's solo projects. TK (Toru Kitajima) is the lead singer, he also does music without his band (ling tosite sigure). You can find his music under the name "TK from Ling Tosite Sigure"). Perhaps I could recommend you this https://youtu.be/v-NlORizNhU
Thanks for trying them out.
Fleshgod apocalypse
The songs The fool or No, are my favourites.
I listened to The Fool. I’m not used to this music so I have to say I don’t like it at all sorry :( it’s simply because of the loudness, I’ve never enjoyed it.
That is fair enough haha Metal is a bit of a more acquired taste than some more chill genres i guess, still thanks for checking it out !
Yeah I think so too, who knows, maybe I will start liking it at some point! Thank you for the recommendation.
Maybe its better to start with something nore chill, if you are up for another song check out "Where the dead ships dwell" from in flames :)
in the beggining i was like: i won’t like it, but to my surprise i actually liked this song haha. tho i don’t think i would like louder genres than this one
Well thats nice to hear, In flames are my all time favorites, got the raven from the album cover as a tattoo :D
wow that’s pretty cool :) have you always liked metal?
Nah, started with metal when i was 15 and some friend from school showed a few songs from In flames and i was lile damn, that is amazing haha Before that it was a lot of mainstream stuff. What music are you usually listening to?
haha that’s nice! I’m trying to find less mainstream music now but I think I’m still there? Anyways I don’t think it’s a bad thing. These days I’ve been listening to Red Hot Chili Peppers, Cage The Elephant, My Chemical Romance, NF, The Neighbourhood… Very different from your music taste I think :)
Haha, kinda different yeah, but hey each to their own, listened to most of those bands as well at some point, so nice choice there :)
thanks! :)
Exposé
I listened to I’ll never get over you, it’s fine, I would’t say I don’t like it but I also don’t love it too much. Maybe I’ll try to listen to some more songs later!
My favorites are: What You Don't Know Tell Me Why and Seasons Change
Matt & the Mikes
I listened to Ways yo Go and I loved it a lot actually, it sounds so fresh and nice to hear, it’s something I would personally listen to. Is this your band or something? hahah since your name is Matthew.
This is my band and we definitely appreciate the listen!
Sturgill Simpson
I listened to Sam, I don’t like country so yeah, personally I didn’t like it. it feels like I’m in a farm lol. I think I had heard this song somewhere tho but I can’t remember when.
Yeah Sam is extremely country. It's off his latest album which is more of a concept album. His albums Metamodern Sounds and A Sailor's Guide To Earth are his best works in my opinion. Also Sound & Fury if you like rock.
You can never judge an artist off their top Spotify song. It's usually just some mediocre stuff that went trending on TikTok or was on the radio. Which everyone knows TikTok and radio sucks lol
Okay I will check those out! I know I know, now I’m only listening the top songs of everyone bc if I had to listen one album of each artist it would take years haha. This is just random reviewing :)
Haha yeah that's understandable
I will only talk about the first one since I got too many comments sorry🥹 i may come back and do the rest when I finish :) i listened to mayana, and I think it’s very calm to listen at any moment, really really nice.
Oh no worries glad you liked Mayana... It's a very smooth song
Uriah Heep.
I listened to Lady in Black, I like it but at some point it felt like I was listening to religious music or something lol. The aaaaaaa part😂 idk what to say about it.
Funkadelic
I listened to Can You Get To That, I’m not a big fan of R&B-soul so I wouldn’t usually listen to this. The sound of the man’s voice is so cool btw.
Stricken (disturbed) . Blackened ( metallica)
About Stricken, I would say I liked it, even if it’s not something I listen to often. So I decided to listen to one song more from them and I chose The Sound of Silence, I didn’t know this was where “hello darkness my friend” came? haha funny. This was different than the first one. Still maybe it’s not a 100% for me I don’t know why. It sounds like from a movie. On the other hand, I have already listened to a few Metallica songs before but I only like some, for example Nothing Else Matters, I absolutely love this one. Blackened is fine but there’s something I don’t like, I think it’s the drums when they go fast in some point, I’ve never liked that, and I’m not a fan of the guitar sound in this song.
Oh I forgot, in the minute 4:00 when another guitar starts playing I think it’s pretty cool, but it’s the first guitar that I don’t like, it sounds like angry lol
Pantera
I listened to Walk, it sounds too angry and I don’t want to get angry :( okay just joking but I don’t really like it, basically bc it sounds pretty much the same the whole 5 minutes
Yeah, if you don't dig heavy metal, like Napalm Death or Alice Cooper, you won't dig Pantera. Personally, Walk wasn't my favorite. That would be Good Friends and a Bottle of Pills, which is a lot more aggressive. What kind of music do you like, by the way?
Yeahh it’s probably that :) Right now I’m listening a lot Red Hot Chilli Peppers, My Chemical Romance, Cage the Elephant, NF, Gorillaz… But I’m always trying to discover new artists
Hikes
I listened to been thinkin’, I think they have a really unique sound and very relaxing and calm, which I liked :) the guitar gives a fun vibe to it
I think you’re spot on! Good luck with your Audio adventure today!
Prince.
I listened to Purple Rain, I had heard a lot about Prince and this song too I think, but never really listened to it well. I like it but maybe too slow and long lol the song was 8:40😂 Then I listened to Kiss and I don’t like the sound of the synth or whatever that was, so weird haha. But I lowkey like it. Yeah it was fine.
Glad you got into his music, Trust me there's too much by Prince to discover apart from the Popular stuff (even though He's the only Artist that I know whose Popular stuff is Amazing not like overrated). Give one of his albums a listen (if you want to :) idk what music you like but My favourite recommendation will be "The Gold Experience" (1995).
You might be familiar with the name JoJo's Bizarre Adventures, A Japanese Manga the writer for which is a Big Prince fan and he references hai music in the Manga alot and one of the two parts of the story are heavily Prince inspired, there is literally a Stand (Ability) name "Gold Experience"
Have a nice day fellow redditor friend :)
Art of Noise and Tom Jones did a great cover of Kiss.
Horrible Crows
Is it The Horrible Crowes? that’s how I found it on spotify idk if it’s the same. Anyways, I listened to Behold the Hurricane, and it’s pretty cool! There’s nothing else to say, I just liked it lol
Yeah that's the one, glad you liked it
Opeth.
Listen to more than one song cuz they jump up and down between agro and mellow, which is what's great about them.
I listened to Windowpane first, this one sounds very dark, I didn’t like the feeling that I got. Then I listened to Soldier of Fortune, and omg I liked a lot the melody of the part: “now I feel I’m growing older…etc” that part is very nice :) the guitar is so cool in this song too
Nice!
Backwoods Creek
I listened to When I Grow Up, it’s a very cute song omg. But lowkey it has like a country sound that I don’t like that much.
Thank you! Appreciate the compliment! 😁
We’ve moved on from the traditional country sound and put more emphasis on our Rock influences. We’re working on a new album that will sound vastly different to ‘When I Grow Up’. We’re considering re-arranging the song to fit our current style.
oh i didn’t know it was your band, that’s great! i’m happy to hear about your new projects, keep the good work up :)
It is my band. Thanks!
Hum - Inlet
I listened to Wave, I don’t like the fact that the guitar makes the voice fade away :( it makes the song sound the same all the time, bc it’s playing the same thing over and over
Ament “I Should Be Outside”
I listened to Lightmoves and I did like it a lot!! It’s an interesting discovery, I will keep listening!
Jeff Ament has really nice solo material love his albums “Tone” & “While My Heart Beats” also it’s listed underJeff Ament and side projects are Tres Mtns, RNDM, Deaf Charlie, Deranged Diction and Three Fish…✌🏻🎶
King Buffalo
I listened to King Buffalo, I’m sad to say I didn’t like it :( it feels the same all the time and when the loudest part comes it’s also kind of repetitive
The Grateful Dead
I listened to Friend of the Devil but I don’t like the country feeling that it has.
I listened to The Middle, and I pretty much liked it! It also felt nice to listen to a happier song, after some darker ones from the other recommendations :) It feels so fresh and fun
I’ve listened to Sweetness now too, and it’s so good! I will keep listening!!
happy to hear that!

Dan Reeder.
I listened to Havana Burning and I loved the fact that it sounds so natural and the acoustic sound is super nice to hear :) Really cool!
Ghost
I listened to Mary On A Cross, not my cup of tea.
That’s fair and i respect that. Have you ever listened to sleep token by any chance?
I don’t think so, which song would you recommend?
I would recommend Alkaline && The summoning. Just so you could see the musical range they have.
Hello, sorry for the spam, I'm starting with my music and this song is mine if you want to listen to it.
Personally, I don’t like electronic music but it’s so cool that you’re starting to create your own songs! Keep up the good work!
I understand and thank you very much for listening to me and for the good encouragement.
Ozric Tentacles
I listened to Sploosh! and the weird sounds like the water sound are so cool and different. Not something that I would choose to listen to but definitely interesting to try out :)
Great background music when working.
Medium Build
I listened to Medium Build and meh I mean it’s fine but nothing special I think
Porcupine Tree
I listened to Trains and it’s pretty good, I liked it!
Billy Talent
I listened to Red Flag, I don’t like the chorus but the rest of the song was so cool, the guitar too :)
Blind melon - St andrews fall
I listened to St. Andrew’s Fall and didn’t like it very much, I don’t have a reason about it haha
Polyphia. Listen to Icronic, Crush, or ABC if you want Vocals.
I listened to ABC first, but the girl who sings is not from the band right? I loved that the song starts saying the letters in japanese like wtf this is so cool. The song itself I like it, I will definitely listen to more of their songs!
The girl is a feature that's right. The band is generally more technical guitar hip-hop, but if you like that then I'm happy to introduce you to the land of hip-hop inspired technical prog rock jazz pop stuff. Chon is another band, and they're similar to Polyphia, but more jazzy.
Fleetwood Mac or Moltcha Doma
I listened to Dreams but I don’t really like it
Since you said you like softer rock, I'm curious your thoughts on "Pink Cigarette" by Mr. Bungle.
the pace is so slow that i don’t like it much
Hear me out: Taylor Swift. A lot of people hate on her because they’ve only heard her mainstream stuff, but she’s actually a really good artist and lyricist, especially her albums folklore and evermore (they’re not her most exciting/fun albums, but her most poetic for sure)
I mean I’ve heard a lot of her songs and I used to like some mainstream songs a few years ago like blank space omg😂 but generally it’s not an artist that intringues me to say it somehow, in the end I think it’s just pop (which is not a bad thing obviously, but I’m a bit tired of it)
I understand! The two albums I mentioned are different than her pop stuff, they’re listed as alternative/indie/folk lol. I get what you mean though
Master Ohm Infinity https://open.spotify.com/artist/4iv1t7TSH3i6OJdH7Do61h?si=-keniqlgQlqF0AaqdI2Ibw
I listened to I’m a Tree, I don’t like the repetitive I’m a Tree lol but overall it’s okay, but I don’t love
Peach Pit. Maybe their song Private Presley. Not as upbeat as most of their music, but it's definitely one of my favorites.
I already knew this group and I love it so much! I found Alrighty Aphrodite and Shampoo Bottles on Spotify once, and I listened to them so many times. Private Presley is so precious too. I think their sound is very unique and you can listen to them at any time.
I totally agree. I found the music video for Black Licorice on YouTube one night, and had to listen to everything else of theirs I could find lol. Been a fan ever since. I saw them live at History in Toronto. It was a great show, they are a lot of fun.
If you're alright with music in Spanish:
"Caramelos de Cianuro" I recommend "La casa" or "Veronica"
If not:
"Canvass The Town" and recommend "End up with nothing"
Hahah of course I'm fine bc in fact I'm spanish lol. I liked both songs from Caramelos de Cianuro, really good discovery. About Canvas The Town, at first I didn't like it so much, because of the weird pace and sounds, but after the first minute I started getting into it. So nice recommendations! :)
I'm really glad you like them, Caramelos is a band from Venezuela that is just known there, but they have great music. As for canvass, yeah, that happened to me too, they have weird sounds on their music but it's really nice and chill
King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard
I listened to Work This Time, wow it's so good! it's strange because there's like a weird effect as if the sound came from an old radio (I hope it's not my headphones lol). It gives the song a different feeling. Incredible! I will continue listening for sure
It definitely wasn’t your headphones. They do all kinds of crazy weird production tricks like that it’s awesome
They’re the best band of all time deep dive you won’t regret it
I will I will
The Clash
I already know a some songs like Should I Stay or Should I Go. Now I listened to London Calling to give a better opinion and yes I like this band a lot. Which one is your favourite song from them?
Glad you liked it! It's hard to decide, but for now my favorite is Hateful
Gryphon - Red Queen to Gryphon Three ( full album available on yt)
>Gryphon - Red Queen to Gryphon Thre
I don't know which song I listened to hahah because I didn't see the name there but it was nice to listen to since it kind of made me remember of the festivities in my town, it has this feeling of old celebrations at random towns. Cool!
I have had that vinyl since the mid 70s and still enjoy it
Morgan Wade
I listened to Wilder Days, even though I don't like country I liked her voice a lot :)
Not even close to her best shit
Carbon Leaf
I listened to Life Less Ordinary, I didn't really like it since it seems to have a hint of country vibes, which I don't like.
Josh Hardy - Miedo
I love the beggining so much until minute 1:06, but just because I'm not into the deep angry guitar thing. Even if I don't like that little part I think it's so good honestly, I loved everything else :)
Josh Hardy - Miedo
Josh Hardy - Miedo
Balance and composure
I listened to Tiny Raindrop, I think it's so cool!! I like the instruments that I hear, the voice of the singer and the vibe overall. I will continue listening for sure :)
Circa Survive too
Keeper Of The Seven Keys by Helloween
The Mars Volta
Also Ween
David Bowie
Andy Gibb
His first album "Flowing Rivers" is his best but there's always greatest / best of collections out there. However there are hidden gems on "Flowing Rivers" that you won't hear anywhere else.
Try out with SZA
