i listened to revolve, and i like when the guitar does the melody in the beggining but i’m not so sure about the voice of the man haha. i’ve also listened yo june bug and this one is actually good. in general i see their songs sound like very dark and deep which is cool. i don’t know if i would listen more tho, because i tend to like softer rock (idk if this makes sense lol)

i will only listen one song of each artist (probably the top song on spotify) from now on bc there are so many comments lol. From Fartbarf I listened to Homeless in Heathrow. Haha honestly I’m confused right now, I don’t know if I love this or hate it, the synth or whatever it’s called it’s pretty interesting (sorry guys I don’t know specific music terms). I may try to find more songs of this artist. I think it has interesting sounds but I personally don’t love it.

I listened to Mykonos. This is something that I think I would actually listen to. It sounds very relaxing and it has like old time vibes idk. I like the choice of instruments too. Very good, I will keep listening!

I listened to Take a Walk, not bad, i actually would think it’s nice if i heard it on the radio for example but it doesn’t feel different, i feel like i’ve listened songs like this one very often. I’ve also listened to Sleepyhead bc I didn’t want to end the review like this haha. This one is not for me, definitely, but it’s different for sure. It’s trying to give me good vibes but I’m not really vibing. I would say it can be interesting for people who like electronic-alternative songs.

Both songs from the same album (Stoner Witch) from 1994. Theyve been around 30+years. they are very much "heavy on the heavy" and are known for their rhythmic complexity and unique song compositions. unique vocals. singer looks like sideshow bob, laughs like crusty. almost all of their songs are heavy, while only a few (they have a LOT of album) sound similar. some of their best live performances were the double drummer years.

I listened to Still Counting, I don’t like hard rock like this so I’m sad to say I don’t like it much. I’m more a person of softer rock :) i wouldn’t say it’s bad either, at all, but it’s not for me

blxeberrie0 OP t1_j9ap482 wrote

I listened to Affluenza, i don’t like it at all sorry😅 it’s kind of strange because the voice of the singer is kind of low and the guitar sounds as loud as the voice? idk how to explain it. well, for me i just don’t like that the instrument kind of hides the voice and the loudness.

Opeth.

Listen to more than one song cuz they jump up and down between agro and mellow, which is what's great about them.

I listened to a couple of songs of Dire Straits a while ago (the most popular one, Sultans of Swing and some more) so I can say I quite like them, they sound very fresh, it’s nice to hear, even though there are other songs like Walk of Life that I don’t like that much. I don’t know why but this one feels kinda dull in my opinion. About Mark Knopfler, I think it feels similar to Dire Straits, very fresh and calming. I listened to What it is. I like both of them but I don’t love them either.

I listened to abnormalize and I liked it a lot! Then I listened to Enigmatic Feeling and I didn’t like it as much. I’m confused. Maybe I don’t listen to this kind of rock often. Oh but I love japanese as a language, it sounds really good in songs. Mmm so idk I loved it first and didn’t in the end??

I listened to Ways yo Go and I loved it a lot actually, it sounds so fresh and nice to hear, it’s something I would personally listen to. Is this your band or something? hahah since your name is Matthew.

I listened to Sam, I don’t like country so yeah, personally I didn’t like it. it feels like I’m in a farm lol. I think I had heard this song somewhere tho but I can’t remember when.

I will only talk about the first one since I got too many comments sorry🥹 i may come back and do the rest when I finish :) i listened to mayana, and I think it’s very calm to listen at any moment, really really nice.

1

nonagonsopen t1_j9ba6lt wrote

Yeah Sam is extremely country. It's off his latest album which is more of a concept album. His albums Metamodern Sounds and A Sailor's Guide To Earth are his best works in my opinion. Also Sound & Fury if you like rock.

You can never judge an artist off their top Spotify song. It's usually just some mediocre stuff that went trending on TikTok or was on the radio. Which everyone knows TikTok and radio sucks lol

About Stricken, I would say I liked it, even if it’s not something I listen to often. So I decided to listen to one song more from them and I chose The Sound of Silence, I didn’t know this was where “hello darkness my friend” came? haha funny. This was different than the first one. Still maybe it’s not a 100% for me I don’t know why. It sounds like from a movie. On the other hand, I have already listened to a few Metallica songs before but I only like some, for example Nothing Else Matters, I absolutely love this one. Blackened is fine but there’s something I don’t like, I think it’s the drums when they go fast in some point, I’ve never liked that, and I’m not a fan of the guitar sound in this song.

2

blxeberrie0 OP t1_j9bcach wrote

Okay I will check those out! I know I know, now I’m only listening the top songs of everyone bc if I had to listen one album of each artist it would take years haha. This is just random reviewing :)

Nah, started with metal when i was 15 and some friend from school showed a few songs from In flames and i was lile damn, that is amazing haha Before that it was a lot of mainstream stuff. What music are you usually listening to?

1

blxeberrie0 OP t1_j9bdugw wrote

I listened to Purple Rain, I had heard a lot about Prince and this song too I think, but never really listened to it well. I like it but maybe too slow and long lol the song was 8:40😂 Then I listened to Kiss and I don’t like the sound of the synth or whatever that was, so weird haha. But I lowkey like it. Yeah it was fine.

Up5ideDown5word t1_j9bf3oq wrote

Glad you got into his music, Trust me there's too much by Prince to discover apart from the Popular stuff (even though He's the only Artist that I know whose Popular stuff is Amazing not like overrated). Give one of his albums a listen (if you want to :) idk what music you like but My favourite recommendation will be "The Gold Experience" (1995).

You might be familiar with the name JoJo's Bizarre Adventures, A Japanese Manga the writer for which is a Big Prince fan and he references hai music in the Manga alot and one of the two parts of the story are heavily Prince inspired, there is literally a Stand (Ability) name "Gold Experience"

Have a nice day fellow redditor friend :)

I listened to Windowpane first, this one sounds very dark, I didn’t like the feeling that I got. Then I listened to Soldier of Fortune, and omg I liked a lot the melody of the part: “now I feel I’m growing older…etc” that part is very nice :) the guitar is so cool in this song too

2

blxeberrie0 OP t1_j9bg6to wrote

haha that’s nice! I’m trying to find less mainstream music now but I think I’m still there? Anyways I don’t think it’s a bad thing. These days I’ve been listening to Red Hot Chili Peppers, Cage The Elephant, My Chemical Romance, NF, The Neighbourhood… Very different from your music taste I think :)

Hear me out: Taylor Swift. A lot of people hate on her because they’ve only heard her mainstream stuff, but she’s actually a really good artist and lyricist, especially her albums folklore and evermore (they’re not her most exciting/fun albums, but her most poetic for sure)

I listened to ABC first, but the girl who sings is not from the band right? I loved that the song starts saying the letters in japanese like wtf this is so cool. The song itself I like it, I will definitely listen to more of their songs!

1

blxeberrie0 OP t1_j9bnuvu wrote

I mean I’ve heard a lot of her songs and I used to like some mainstream songs a few years ago like blank space omg😂 but generally it’s not an artist that intringues me to say it somehow, in the end I think it’s just pop (which is not a bad thing obviously, but I’m a bit tired of it)

We’ve moved on from the traditional country sound and put more emphasis on our Rock influences. We’re working on a new album that will sound vastly different to ‘When I Grow Up’. We’re considering re-arranging the song to fit our current style.

The girl is a feature that's right. The band is generally more technical guitar hip-hop, but if you like that then I'm happy to introduce you to the land of hip-hop inspired technical prog rock jazz pop stuff. Chon is another band, and they're similar to Polyphia, but more jazzy.

If you're alright with music in Spanish:

"Caramelos de Cianuro" I recommend "La casa" or "Veronica"

If not:

"Canvass The Town" and recommend "End up with nothing"

I'm glad you like one of their songs. I was not used to listening to this kind of rock (I didn't like the sound of electric guitar) or any rock, but it was this band that got me into rock.

Haha there are some of their songs that do not click with me, but since this band produces many songs, there are still other ones that sound absolutely awesome. You could try out TK's solo projects. TK (Toru Kitajima) is the lead singer, he also does music without his band (ling tosite sigure). You can find his music under the name "TK from Ling Tosite Sigure"). Perhaps I could recommend you this https://youtu.be/v-NlORizNhU

Thanks for trying them out.

Yeah, if you don't dig heavy metal, like Napalm Death or Alice Cooper, you won't dig Pantera. Personally, Walk wasn't my favorite. That would be Good Friends and a Bottle of Pills, which is a lot more aggressive. What kind of music do you like, by the way?
