The Regrettes are amazing, Lydia Knight's voice is killer. Mazzie Star, Cocteau Twins, Tori Amos for older ones, but I am sure you know of them. The record label 4AD is known for having a fairly impressive roster of artists, you might check out some of them and see if anything there flips your switches. Most of the current female artists I listen to are fronting punk bands like The Last Gang, The Bomb Pops, Bad Cop/Bad Cop.
