Assuming it wasn't a typo, they were probably just AR-15 style rifles that were made by Anderson Manufacturing. They name their models "AM-15". Not especially rare, but more on the budget side.

I forgot about about Anderson. All of their offerings are chambered in 5.56 (or other calibers), though, so I'm going to go with it being a typo.
