At my job, we have monthly rotating shifts. I have been summoned for jury duty on a Monday when I would be off. Am I entitled to another given day off or am I just screwed into working a 40 hour week and attending jury duty? I know that typically I would be given off during a work week to attend the summoning.

I will be telling my manager about it regardless, I just can’t find any information about being entitled to another day off or time given back.

You are not entitled to another day, and you may actually be required to attend Jury Duty beyond the Monday you have been called.

When you go to the juror interview thing just tell them you hate cops and couldn’t be unbiased in a trial.

Theres a phone number you can call the night before and they should be able to tell you if you even need to show. Theres a good chance they won't need you

If you pay child support there is a good chance you will be excused. You just need to add it to the comment section in the questionnaire.

Some counties can be lenient and reschedule it depending on circumstances. I know someone self employed who has done it twice because it was during a busy season and would affect their income. Not sure if they will care it's your day off.

Its against the law for employers to deny time off for jury duty. But they dont have to pay you but many will but only 8hrs.
