In the election this year for PA Senator in the 36th District, Ryan Aument (R) is running unopposed. Are there any write-in candidates seeking election?
While I don't think Aument is all that bad (his work in the COVID task force was actually pretty good), especially compared to a lot of his colleagues, and I also don't think the Democrats are doing the best all the time, the last few years have really cemented for me that it's important to not support the GOP platform in any way, even if it's just peripherally by not voting in that particular race at all.
If it comes down to it, I'll write in William Troutman Jr., who lost to Aument in the 2018 election.
There is also no Dem candidate for Representative in the 41st District, but there is a Lib candidate and the slim chance of them winning over the Rep candidate is enough to secure my vote.
And to my conservative brothers and sisters, I understand your frustration and fear. You need to know that I'm voting to make your lives better as well as mine. I want everyone to prosper. I just believe that voting (R) right now is taking us backwards. The attacks on voting rights, women's bodily autonomy, and support of hate and bigotry within the party have lead me to see no path forward that includes the GOP.
