Thanks! A search immediately came up with pest solutions. Seems like they tend to infest areas. :(

Yes, go get some Ortho home defense insect killer at lowes and get rid of them now. We have them and they are an infestation.

I’ll see about getting some!

You will have to go after them a few times. And most likely once it starts warming up again.

Yup, you've got boxelders!

We just had the same issue at our house. They were all over the windows, doors...anyplace that was warm, and every time I opened the door a dozen of them would get in. I've been keeping a vacuum cleaner stationed by the door.

We had an exterminator come on Monday, he inspected the property and found a colony in the wall that lines our driveway - literally hundreds of them coming in and out. He sprayed the living shit out of it and intends to come back again this coming Monday, but once he sprayed they've all but disappeared.

I might recommend you take a walk around your property and see if there's a nearby colony.

Just boxelder's trying to extend their season by soaking up your waste heat. Worst case scenario they get behind your siding and take a six month nap.

We call them Halloween bugs. We see them hanging on our shed walls in the sun for about a week every October.

Well they definitely have a seasonal appearance what with the orange and black exoskeleton lol

I also live in Pennsylvania and I was seeing them all summer outside of my apartment building and have never seen them before that. That makes me think they're not native to the area.

The box elder is a native species. Been here forever. See them all the time. Like to hang out on warm walls this time of year.

I never saw them before this summer. I see and smell plenty of stink bugs, like right at this moment, lol, but never the box elders.

And all the ones I've seen were on the sidewalk in front of my apartment building, otherwise I probably wouldn't have noticed them.
