so when i was a kid i went on a field trip to this mine place and i remember hearing that something happened which cause someone to want to pay the residents to move away with this one lady not wanting to move. so i was wondering does anyone know about it, if so can you tell me about it.

The mine you visited was the Pioneer Mine Tunnel in Ashland. I grew up not far from there and remember that part of the tour.

Itâs been openly discussed in media for years , I was born and raised in NY , moved to PA when i retired , and am a huge fan of history ( lifelong stamp collector 32 years amateur radio license does that ) my dad was born and raised in Scranton , you donât know me but those that do know me will tell you I am brutally honest . If you tell me what you wanna hear , I will tell you what you need to hear instead , I have a very strict personal honor code & very thick skin as a side effect of my career . And when I retired it wasnât because I am old it was because of my health , the union put me out to pasture and said enjoy what time you have left .
i see well im used to people lying to me online. especially if they use something like 100 percent in their reply.
My first reaction to that is usually bullshit , because somebody is blowing smoke up your ass . However I also find that I am in so many communityâs on so many different topics people find out I âstraight shooterâ I donât have a separate online âpersona â thereâs just me IRL and online , if a person is going to be a friend or have any respect for you at all you canât be flaming liar , you canât meet a metric ton of trolls keyboard warriors and idiots who will happily lie to you . Part of the reason I am so upfront online is because I am used to unknowing people making judgements based on what they see , there isnât a 500 pound elephant in the room . Your only reference is what they say and how they behave . So trying to sell lies will get you disregarded , but telling someone the truth as you know it is uncomplicated , genuine and something thatâs hard to find online . So I am a firefighter who changed apparatus from a truck to a wheelchair , and people assume your an idiot and have no life because they donât see you they see a wheelchair , if I didnât tell you I was medically retired and in a chair you wouldnât know . So sometimes I say 100 percent because I know thatâs generally a sign of dishonesty however since I am not being dishonest I have nothing to fear , I hope that will come through Lima Charlie . No tobacco enemas from this guy .

Probably went to Ashland for the field trip, but the story is about nearby Centralia. I believe the home they are referring to is up by the old highway (graffiti highway).
Dean Koontz wrote a short story that featured Centralia. The town was never named, but it's obvious that's where he was talking about in Strange Highways.
