The farm show needs to trend back to being an event for people in the agricultural industry, and not a place for people to shuffle around aimlessly slurping down milkshakes.

I think your sentiment is what resulted in the competing event in York during the same time frame. Equipment/tractors, fertilizers, feeds, etc. Much less petting, gawking, milkshaking. I'd have gone to both but can't be two places.

Lots of spotless Carhartt jackets and shiny boots this year.

I figured the Yellowstone fans would be out in full force.

I mean, it's still a really cool event (& free!) where you can check out a buncha stuff about agriculture in PA. Definitely not what it was but most things change and the number of smaller family farms get acquired for subdivisions, warehouses, or corporate farming.

Milkshakes do sound good, but is it work the trek there with my kids to see everything else?

I’m sure the kids will like it.

It’s always super crowded though, and it makes being an animal exhibitor pretty hard sometime. People won’t give you any space when trying to move animals to the arenas, or constantly trying to pet your animals. I think things have gotten better in that regard, but I was always on the lookout for kids on leashes, as they seemed to be the unpredictable ones.

Even getting into the farm show complex with livestock in the trail is frustrating, as traffic down there is horrible and people are always cutting you off or braking for no reason.

You already missed PA High School Rodeo which is free and two sessions of good clean fun. Try to remember for next year; the kids will get a big kick out of it.
