I can’t really blame Rozzi for using this tactic. He’s been fighting for this litigation window for victims of child sex abuse for years, and each time those measures have been stymied by interest groups, typically the Catholic Church, despite apparent widespread support among legislators. This is likely the only way to ensure this amendment actually passes this time around.

The GQP's efforts to get other amendments onto the ballot during a Special Session called for one particular issue is a continuation of their efforts to keep Rozzi's Amendment off the spring ballot. He is right to cancel all further sessions until they come to the table in good faith. Unintended upside to this? Because nothing is scheduled, no per diems. Bet that pisses them off good.

Three more Democrats will be getting seats next month. Nothing is so urgent that it requires quick action. These amendments, if eventually passed, can still go on the November ballot.

They dont want them on a general election ballot. They prefer them on off-year primary ballots when they can gin up their angry base to come out and vote their shit through like the pandemic amendments.

They lost the election in November and, with it, control of the calendar.

Until the Dems seat the majority, control of the calendar remains up in the air.

Not really. Until democrats fill the empty seats no one controls it, but that’s also why they are clamoring for sessions. They want to jams some last minute things through before they lose their majority.

The republicans have been blocking the sex abuse amendment for years to protect religious institutions, namely but not limited to the Catholic church.

Their bundling of this in is plainly an attempt to get Rozzi to bite and hopefully he's smart enough not to, even though this has been his number one issue his whole time in office.
