Some areas, especially rural areas of the state, require people to buy specially marked garbage bags for people to leave along the curb for pickup. These are usually sold in various sizes with maximum weight limits on them. Alternately, you can sign up for trash pickup through a trash pickup service such as Waste Management who charges a fee based on the distance they need to travel to your house and the number of other customers close to where you live. OP is apparently upset the local trash service upped the price of their bags.

Ok so you are asking why your township is charging you to pick up your trash not asking why your township charges you money to buy a bag correct? If so thats because trash pickup isnt free....If they are charging you for an actual trash bag to use then you go to a store and buy them...

some places you buy borough trash bags and that’s your fee for trash service. Some places did away with it. But I think there’s a few towns that still use it. Like this one
