It took sooo long. I got a lawyer, he didn’t. We ended up filing uncontested and did not have to appear in court. I paid my attorney $3k but it was worth it. I think. Sometimes.

You can get a divorce done and singed in just a few months if everyone is willing to play fair and not make demands.
When someone is scorned or upset is when it can take a very long time.

Private schools (out of district) that ive worked in do provide speech over 9, but the most recent article I found says it was headed to the governor,so I'm not sure for RI public school🤔
You can also find info on each school districts websites about their special ed programs. https://www.rilegislature.gov/pressrelease/_layouts/RIL.PressRelease.ListStructure/Forms/DisplayForm.aspx?List=c8baae31%2D3c10%2D431c%2D8dcd%2D9dbbe21ce3e9&ID=372811&Web=2bab1515%2D0dcc%2D4176%2Da2f8%2D8d4beebdf488

You’ll be better off in MA when it comes to education.
Massachusetts is light years ahead of Rhode Island in all aspects of education, to the point where our goals for the future are tied to the levels that MA is at presently.
As for tax benefits, if your ex works in MA but lives in RI, he’ll pay taxes in RI and have to file his taxes in both. Anything withheld in MA will be remitted to RI.
But an attorney will handle all of this with ease.
You’ll also have to file in MA, as that’s where the two of you lived.

Eh, I'm from central MA and I live in northern RI and my kids go to school here. Unless they are in an affluent area around Boston I doubt the schools there are any better than the schools in the towns op mentioned.

When kids are involved, I’m pretty sure you have to file in the state that they “sleep” in. That’s how it worked for me.
