As a student flying the Cessna 172 (Single Engine Small Plane), we only really use it if the crosswind will make 23 a bit too challenging. I've landed perhaps a handful of times on 16

Edit: Engines have become quieter. The first time flying (25 years ago this week) was on a 737-200 (N305DL) with JT8D's (first generation Turbo Jets, low bypass). Hearing the engines spool up to Takeoff power, it screams power, but it is like a V8 with a straight pipe

PPL, pretty close to solo, also completed the IFR ground school stuff (will be reviewing that stuff again, very dense indeed), and also got my AGI Rating
