Anyone have a old farm or an old house they would be willing to let me go metal detecting in? It goes without saying I won’t leave any holes and take any trash I find with me. Check out my profile and see some of the stuff I’ve found.

It's a great hobby. I usually hit up the beaches on the south coast right after big storms. A couple decades ago I found an 1841 $5 half eagle on some old farm land in South Kingstown that I had permission to detect on, unfortunately it's been turned into a housing development since then. The coin is in horrible shape, but it was a great find none the less.

I have only hit the beaches a few times but coincidentally I found this ring at Scarborough last week

I’ve had good luck in some of the public south shore fields too, just hoping to expand onto some unhunted private property….getting sick of digging shotgun shells by the bucket load.

It is literally so much fun. I didn’t know finding Pennies on Easton beach could be so much fun.

Yeah it becomes addictive, keep hoping that next swing will bring up an old coin from the 1700’s

Squantum Woods. Ran into a guy metal detecting there once. He had found coins from 1800s.

I mean, anything you find on someone else's property is going to be theirs anyway.

All depends on the homeowner, most will let you keep what you find. I don’t think I’d hunt a property where the homeowner excepts me to give them everything I find unless it was a historical place and it was going in a museum, or some sort of family heirloom like grandma’s ring or something. Kinda like giving someone permission to deer hunt on your property and expecting them to give you the deer.
