... listen, I'm not a lawyer so go and talk to one - if this damage happened while the car was in the dealership's care, then it is their responsibility to make it right.

They said they were going to compensate me for the damage, so I’m gonna foot them the bill for the cost of the paint correction. Still need to find a place to get that done though.

At the least, make sure that you document all conversations with the dealership (preferably via email). Then you have legal recourse if they try to back out of any deal they make with you. Also, have you informed your automobile insurance provider? I'm sure they would be able to help on many levels

Haven’t done that yet, don’t think it will be necessary though (hopefully). Thankfully, my mother is a higher-up at the dealership I took it to and I told her about what happened and she reported it to the top guy there. We’ll see what happens but I think in this case they’ll be true to their word, my mother was just as pissed lmao.
