Many predators back down when met with aggression. It means it won't be an easy meal. That's why they pick off the sick ones in the herd. Aggressiveness and intelligence are the only things that keeps us on the top of the food chain.

I’ve always found it interesting too that, whatever situation you find yourself in, there is almost ALWAYS a way to think yourself out of it, but seldomly can we use our physical prowess to get out of it.

Tbf I think Humans are so violent as a result of being hairless, teethless, clawless, venomless monkeys.
That aside; We do have teeth, we do have hair, and we're not monkeys lol
Edit: Oh, and Human saliva contains so much bacteria that a bite wound left untreated is pretty much a death sentence. Hypothetically, biting an animal will most likely eventually cause it to die from infection. So might as well consider us being "venomous" too.

Tell that to my dad, who was born a monkey and now lives with his mother and father in New Jersey City and has been a member of the American family since his birth and was raised on the farm here in New Pennsylvania when I moved to the United marshlands and the first time we ever had any real snow there it is so cold out there it’s just like freezing cold and it’s like freezing and cold and it’s so cold and it’s cold it’s like it’s like it’s like it’s so cold 🥶

Humans as well as other apes are monkeys. We are part of the infraorder Simiiformes, the simians aka monkeys

Well yes, cladistically speaking, sure.
But that's like saying Hippos are Cetaceans... Which is true, but calling Hippos Whales is a bit of a stretch.

Edit: okay calling it a "death sentence" might have been a bit exaggerated lol but Human bite wounds are no joke!

Oh when biting other humans yeah. Probably not other animals though as they bite each other often. Even another human would be unlikely to die.

Sorry.. I had teeth last time I checked.. should I be concerned?
Also.. humans are not monkeys.. humans are apes And money are apes.. but humans are not monkeys
raff7 t1_jacfzf6 wrote
Not all simians are monkeys.. there are monkeys and apes.. humans are apes, not monkeys
The main way to distinguish the two is by the fact that monkeys have tails.. apes do not

No, other animals are just as susceptible to infection.
And wild animals drop dead all the time because of infected wounds. Sepsis ain't no joke dude, without treatment any severe infection can be fatal.
The only reason Human bite's morbidity isn't higher, is due to medicine and healthcare.
That's why I said Hypothetically and eventually in my original comment.
But yeah, unironically calling Humans venomous would be highly inaccurate.
platypuspoop2 t1_jachqnt wrote
Idk other animals are susceptible to infection but get bit and injured in the wild often and still survive and heal without any medical intervention. A human bite likely wouldn’t kill anything. Maybe a small rodent or bird. Also I’ve been bit by family members when young. It broke the skin and nothing happened. Probably depends on the individual who is biting you. A bite from a homeless guy for example could be worse.
skinneyd t1_jack9pp wrote
Yeah that is in no way a common occurence. If the injury itself won't kill the animal, a predator will. Seeing an animal in the wild that has recovered from a serious injury is very rare.
Of course other animals have immune systems too, so they can fend off a minor infection without any medical intervention, as can we.
But oh boy, if those bacteria and pathogens enter the bloodstream? Without medical care that animal is a gonner, be it Human or any other animal.
