So will dogs or even other humans if they get hungry enough. Basically, anything or anyone close to you could eat your dead body if they're starving, which your pets would be if you died alone and they have no way out of your house. This survival behavior is not just limited to cats and you're dead anyway so why would you care?

One of them has been looking at me kinda funny lately. I'm pretty healthy but his side eye is making me wonder if his playful bites are more of a taste test.

Same curiosity. My niece is an EMT and on many occasions has shown up at long-deceased cat or dog owners places. The dogs will most often lie quietly next to or close to the deceased, and the cats will start dining on the most accessible flesh, typically the face.

Xactly! That shit freaks me out. Even so, I do have cats. But it is never far from my mind that if I die in my sleep they'll be dining on my eyes come breakfast time!
