Maybe you didn't, but where I'm from its very, very common to send a card when a baby is born.

It's pretty common to congratulate the parents on the birth of their child, but less so congratulate the baby for being zero years old.

We send a card to the immediate family. Parents, siblings, and the little one. Maybe it's a cultural thing.

My daughter and my wife share a birthday. I got a card for both of them when she was born. Don't know why, just felt like something I should have done years ago.
