I was going to comment 100% alcohol would be the exception but found that outside of a lab, it's nearly impossible to get. So I'd say you're still right.

Sip some Everclear and get back to me on how neutral and refreshing it is. I would describe the flavor as more "burn and throw up on yourself" notes.
