Rehabilitation with Corrections is very important.

Let's take the place of our most heinous acts of cruelty against our own people and make it a rehab facility so people don't think about what we allowed to happen here for 100 or so years.

Yeah, it's called changing for the better.

Maybe rehabilitate neighborhoods then before they end up in jail. The people who don't commit crimes have to sit and be the victims of crimes in these areas only to watch their prison conditions get better while they still live surrounded by filth of a vicious cycle.

That would be ideal.

We can do both at the same time, they aren't mutually exclusive.

Are they denying anything that happened in the past?

Or are they, rightly, changing their methods and facilities in order to try a less abusive, more successful form of rehabilitation?

The land where that prison is more than 400 acres of prime San Francisco Bayfront property. The bare land it likely worth well over a Billion dollars, even in today's down real estate market. I bet they could get someone to build an entirely new facility and still make a Billion on the sale :)

Dunno what the repeat offender (?) rate is over there but in scandinavia its about 30%. Not sure it that is good or bad tho.
