So, someone in the CIA is on the board of directors for said company and they have access to CIA funds. Is this not raising any red flags? How is this legal?

Is this uplifting? Sounds like Jurassic Park lol

Just make sure they pay the damn computer guy and we'll be fine.

Taxpayer dollars are funding this? National security purposes? Can someone help me make sense of this?
Edit. I have nothing against the mammoth. They are a wonderful part of our collective story. I just question the motives of people at the helm making decisions like this in the name of the nation’s security. Actions do speak louder than words though and what this says to me is very troubling.

Interesting! In the world of extinct plants, some scientists reportedly found extant silphium recently, too.

What's uplifting about this?
Mammoths are neat and all, but this world is even less hospitable to them than it was when they went extinct the first time.
If they are brought back, it will be to suffer.
Jamescell t1_iqtx3de wrote
Firstly, from what I remember it was mainly human hunting that wiped out mammoths, not climate change. Secondly, they would help stabilize tundra biomes and prevent soil erosion and permafrost thawing which is a significant contributor to greenhouse gasses

This subreddit suffers from a lot of the same problems as /r/mademesmile: a ton of surface-level feel-good stories that only make people with below average critical thinking skills feel good.

Why does it say it can help the climate co2 issue but doesn't explain how?
SmokeFrogRed t1_iqw3iez wrote
As permafrost melts, old vegetation will be exposed and release co2 into the air. We need big animals to gobble up the old vegetation and process it. They will work almost as living carbon capture machines. Kinda cool.
