Who needs unions when you've got free samples!

Okay we need to find ten very similar-looking guys and dress them in the exact same outfit but for one hilariously over-the-top difference... I have a prank idea.

Is this to distract from their union busting?

Edit: busting not besting!

Anyone else feels super skittish about free samples and open food bars now that we've seen how the average person handles the pandemic...?

Free samples? What about unions for their employees?

There's nothing that motivates me to stay away from a store than having to watch people (with their unwashed hands) scrambling for FREE STUFF.

Whenever I see a post praising an anti-union company for doing something completely useless, I picture Walter White with the pizza saying "I've got dipping sticks"

So, unless there's been news since I read about this last, you can't really catch Covid by eating it. So even if there are germs that way, you should be OK on that front.

Now, all the other things in the world? Completely different story, and people are disgusting. But you should be OK on that one limited front.

While this is good news - (I didn’t even know they did samples at Traders Joes.) The REAL question is when are they gonna bring back the bar at Whole Foods, so I can drink while I shop?

naimastaybro t1_iqz9av8 wrote

Damn. I forgot they used to have free samples. Its been a long time.

parsifal t1_iqz9n2o wrote

It’s very annoying how closed-off and insular Trader Joe’s is. You can’t shop online or even look at their inventory, and you can’t get delivery. You ask the staff questions about availability and they know nothing, as if they’re waiting to see who survived the trek over the Silk Road.

dontcareitsonlyreddi t1_iqza3ch wrote

Don’t believe them!🫣

I was gonna get one and the sample lady said “ it’s not chocolate 🍫it’s poo💩😳, Melts in my butt and now in your mouth 👁️👄👁️”

I screamed 😱 and ran to my car🚗

Lol they don't have "adequate pay" - hence the union word floating around lately.

This is a silly false dilemma: they're not asking for the cure for cancer, dude - just the ability to afford a one-bedroom apartment. Less skuzzy healthcare criteria would be neat too.

Do you run Union-busting PR for Trader Joe's or something lol? Try a sample of some empathy.

8Splendiferous8 t1_iqzdoog wrote

Huh. I just had a free sample from Trader Joe's today and hadn't even thought about the fact that I hadn't had one in years.

rhab17 t1_iqzfh3b wrote

Are they wrapped in plastic?

phunktheworld t1_iqzjpqx wrote

Naw man Trader Joe’s has WAY better pay and bennies than Safeway and their union. And more flexibility than Safeway on hours and job stuff because they don’t have union rules to contend with. I’ve worked for both companies btw.

Sprouts needs a union, those poor souls

Who needs the cure for cancer when I personally watched the company drain & exploit my spouse for years and then ultimately fuck them out of healthcare anyway?

The sad reality is TJs really is way better than other grocery jobs and it’s STILL exploitative and shitty. Good branding to make TJs seem like a neighborhood shop will make people forget that, but multibillion dollar companies like this all have the same core issues regarding the exploitation & dehumanization of their workers, and TJs is no exception.

I'm actually really glad about this, one of the stores I frequent placed the coffee station in the way of an aisle. Since COVID, I don't have to navigate around the senior citizen Karens complaining that there is no more milk for the free mini-cup of coffee that they are obviously entitled to.
