In Washington state, they outlawed single-use plastic bags. Now when you go to the store you have to pay 8 cents for a reusable plastic bag. But people treat them like disposable plastic bags, only they contain twice as much plastic because they are thicker than single use bags. So on the one hand, the state did completely eliminate single-use plastic bags. But it also inadvertently doubled the amount of plastic bag waste by doubling the amount of plastic in its reusable bags.
