this is not really uplifting
as authoritarian as China is, a couple of restrictions are actually beneficial, and mandatory covid lockdowns/vaccines in general are extremely helpful at combating the spread of the virus and decreasing the amount of deaths significantly.
still it's good that they are being a bit more lenient and less oppressive.

Not true. The reason for this restriction is because of the recent protests, which does show that the Chinese central government is quite sensitive to public opinion.
