For all the "what took so long crowd" it was a combo of many things; groups suing to block it, legislative agreement on where the money is going, agreement on how permits would work (how many in what areas), who would get these permits, all the rules associated with growing and distributing...and the many, many, many interested regulatory parties who got involved so they could get their wheels greased and make sure they're getting in on the action.

If there’s anywhere that could use a collective chill out, it’s NYC. Weed shouldn’t be legal there, it should be mandatory.

Its already mandatory in NYC since you can't really breath anywhere without taking a hit.

All the stuff that is totally irrelevant to a healthy, vibrant market imo. If you reduce supply in the legal market (which will happen when everything needs a permit), than you will inevitably increase demand in the black market. Wish these lawmakers would read an Economics textbook.
