I used to work in that building! Smith Tower’s elevators are still hand operated and at lunch hour, the elevators become a giant bottleneck. Getting stuck in the elevators was a regular occurrence. Other than that, it’s a beautiful building.

Me too! They did modernize the elevators a couple of years ago so no more operators or metal cages, but they still retain most of the original details.

Nice shot! Fun fact, Smith Tower was the tallest building on the west coast until it was surpassed by the Space Needle. Now both look small compared to the downtown skyscrapers.
