Definitely not recent. The enchantments have had snow for a few weeks or so

This is on the enchantments trail ... there are so many lakes on the trail that I don't remember the name of this specific one. More than 10 lakes on this trail.

If you have the original image, the EXIF info should have the coordinates of where this photo was taken. You map the exact location where this is on Google Maps. Or, post this in the Washington Hikers & Climbers Facebook group and you'll have an answer.

How far of a hike to get out to see this? Im a beginner hiker but so pretty!

It’s about 6 or 7 mi from the Colchuck Lake TH with about 5k gain. The way to Colchuck Lake is about 5 mi, but the you have to hike up Aasgard Pass (about 2k gain in one mile) before you get to the Core Zone. Most people stop at Colchuck Lake, but the effort to make to the Core is totally worth it and it makes Colchuck look meh (I’ve done the hike multiple times and hate the hike from Colchuck Lake to the TH since it’s not too scenic and takes forever on the way back). I think the road is closed for the winter now so you have time to get prepared for next year

Sprite lake looking up toward perfection lake. Little Annapurna is just outside the photo on the left.

Is it true they are looking at making even day hikes to Colchuck permit only? This hike is blowing up everywhere, instagram, tik tok, Reddit, and Facebook. I see it everywhere and it gets EXTREMELY crowded. Super happy people are out enjoying nature, but there are cars parked 2 miles from the trailhead.
know_not_much OP t1_ivds5h3 wrote
I hope they don't. As of now, no permit required for through hike.
know_not_much OP t1_ivdsebn wrote
Yes this lake is approximately 10 miles away (4500+ ft elevation) from the trailhead. you need to hike another 10 miles to get back to the trailhead.

I love larches. too bad they are so short lived. they last only 2 to 3 weeks.
know_not_much OP t1_ivdsj2m wrote
Yes those are larch trees. they are very beautiful when they turn yellow but they last only 2 or 3 weeks once they become golden/yellow.

thanks!!!

The needles only last that long once they turn yellow. The next wind storm knocks them off. The trees themselves are fine and are not short-lived.
