Oh ok, there was a guy on youtube explaining that thicker plates are easier to lift because the weight distribution is different. I wonder what was wrong in his calculation as he used some formulas to prove his point.

They need the same force. However thicker/thinner plates or longer/shorter bars can make it easier to balance.

Yeah the guy in the video is a bit confused and doesn't apply the right equations. But the general point is that denser weights that are closer to your end are easier to balance so they feel lighter. But they do require the same amount of force to lift.

Actually, the point was the opposite, that the more compact plates feel heavier. I personally noticed that the closer the weight is to me the harder it is for me to lift it.
What did the guy in the video get wrong?
