Two seasons where he was out almost half a year, only one playoff win... and he wants the most money of anybody in the NFL.

Seems really immature; also seems like he would benefit from some professional representation.

The love I used to feel is waning, making me more and more ok with him leaving and us finding a real raven to lead the roost.

He’s leaving so much money on the table by not having an agent. He could have used the past several years to really build his brand and segue that into endorsements. He should have been appearing in commercials, have an expansive line of apparel of some kind, etc. This would have all been easy to get going after the MVP season. And all of it is easier money than playing football. Instead he’s trying to make his money through potentially unrealistic contract asks. In his quest to save 3% he’s probably passing up on 50%.

Good points and also he’s being used as a pawn by the NFLPA who wants all of the guys to only accept fully guaranteed contracts. Professional representation would’ve helped navigate that landmine as well.

Thing is he good be. He has an amazing talent. If he could stop getting hurt and learn to lead a bit more he could be an amazing quarterback. He just hasn't done that yet and this struggling to make a deal for years is really hurting his stock, especially as he co tines to get hurt which is always a giant question mark on running quarterbacks. Is anyone willing to pay him what he wants when one bad tackle could end a season or career.

the annoying part of all of this is your last sentence. Because you can say that for literally any football player. It only takes one play. The ravens have been notoriously injured as a team for the past few years, yet people are still being paid. He hasn’t had any major tears or breaks requiring surgery so he’s still relatively fresh in that regard. it’s just a physical game players are going to get hurt. I don’t see that as a reason he shouldn’t be compensated for being our QB1 plus RB1 for the last 4 years which is an issue in itself.

Difference is when your $50million QB goes down vs your $10million running back or $15million DE. The cap implications are massive not to mention most positions you can slide in a decent replacement or sign one off the street. QBs, especially one with such a unique skill set as Lamar, are irreplaceable

What did Vick win exactly? Nothing. He was always broken down in the playoffs. It's not a sustainable playing style. You have to be able to be a passer who can run... not a runner who can pass. Mahomes works so well because he's a passer first which opens up clear running lanes. Lamar's runs are tough runs and he's not going to be able to continue to rack up these hits.

Bro, Brady won Super Bowls with WR's that were thrown away, under sized white guys, or projects. He had Moss for a few years and a Gronk was gone from a few of his Super Bowls. Julian Edelman said it many times, Tom helped make him, not the other way around. Throwing Tannehill in there is just a troll at this point. Who was the last "running" QB to win a Super Bowl? Arguably, Steve Young and that a push because I'd say Young is more like Mahomes, a passer who can run, not a runner who can pass.

No, betting on yourself is fine. Holding a team hostage in negotiations because you want the most money of any player in the entire league with little in the way of postseason wins to show for it is immature. He was offered an amazing deal with $130+ million in guaranteed money and he turned it down because it wasn't the biggest deal in the league. There is a fine line between self confidence and hubris and I feel like Lamar is jumping over it.

First, you have to consider the info about negotiations have only come from the Raven's side and of course paints it as they have done everything to give Lamar the best deal possible and he's not budging. Not hard to imagine but one thing to consider. Once Lamar saw last year that DeShaun Watson signed a $230M guaranteed deal, Russell Wilson a $165M guaranteed deal and Matt Stafford a $130M guaranteed deal, he ofcourse would/should get a similar deal. Carr signed recently to $100M guarantee and Daniel Jones to $82M guarantee and those are worst qb's.

He was offered $133 million guaranteed but the total was $250 million. That total was more than any other player and the guaranteed put him at the third highest guarantee ever given.

Hard to look at this and not see greed, IMO.

I'm all for players fighting to get good deals but when you put a whole team and city in limbo over it it leaves a bad taste in a lot of fans mouths, myself included. I'd love for Lamar to play here since he is one of the most exciting players in the league but I don't want it to cost the team any chance at getting other players and I'm already annoyed it hasn't worked out for 2 years.

I believe the reason he’s so adamant about a fully guaranteed contract is because he has almost no endorsements. Yes mahomes and Rodgers are making $45million per, but they’re making almost as much in State Farm and subway commercials. It’s another reason why he’s so stupid for not having an agent. There’s no way he can properly be an nfl qb, negotiate a massive contract, and secure endowment deals all at the same time and it’s probably cost him tens of millions of dollars

I don't think it's fair to say he's being immature. Football is a business and he's trying to get as much money as he can. Totally reasonable. There are dumb franchises out there that will give absolutely awful contracts to players and he gambled that something like that would benefit him. Unfortunately for Lamar the disaster of the Deshaun Watson contract in Cleveland appears to have knocked some sense into idiots like Dan Snyder.

I do agree that he misjudged his value on the market and would be better off with an agent.

Lamar has the fourth best regular season win percentage of any QB ever with at least 50 starts, his injuries have never been from running, they have happened while he’s in the pocket so the fact that he’s a “running quarterback” hasn’t been the reason he’s been injured. Ravens are always in the conversation for teams that can win the AFC when he is on the field, and their PPG is 10 points less when he isn’t. If you look at what other teams are paying lesser quarterbacks with similar resumes and no MVP awards, he absolutely should get the highest deal ever. I’m rooting for him (and all the players who will come after him) to get fully guaranteed deals…and this coming from someone who’s been a fan of the Ravens since they came to Baltimore…

The problem I have with Lamar was his weight gain from 205 to 220. It appears that he didn't lose any speed but it surely looks like he lost some quickness. Those crazy move just were not there in 2022. I wish him the best of luck and hope he can get more accurate on his throws no matter who he plays for.
